COMING HOME TO THE BODY AFTER TRAUMA @ True Center Therapy
Coming Home to the Body after Trauma is a small, closed group to help participants slowly and gently begin to return to the body and reconnect to the wisdom within. We will use tools from somatic experiencing, polyvagal theory, yoga and other forms of movement, mindfulness, meditation, compassion, parts work, and more.
What makes events traumatic is the feeling of aloneness during the time of threat. This group aims to create safe enough space in community to foster healing ourselves.

TRUE CENTER
also offers INDIVIDUAL and RELATIONSHIP THERAPY:
BACKGROUND:
I hold we are innately healing beings and internally have what we need to heal. Within each of us is a deep knowing of who we truly are, what really matters to us, and our life’s purpose. Yet, in this human life, we inevitably encounter traumas, and it's easy to lose our connection to the inner knowing of our hearts. We may feel lost, disconnected, unlovable, or angry.
THE THERAPEUTIC APPROACH:
My approach is meeting you wherever you are right now. Often, we begin our work by establishing a foundation of "safe enough" and strengthen your existing toolbox of effective coping strategies so that you feel more confident and connected to your center. I will help you learn to regulate your emotions and ground yourself through the ups and downs of life. Gradually, you will find relief from overwhelming emotions like shame and self-doubt, trauma, anxiety, depression, anger, addictions, dissociation, relationship, spiritual, and identity challenges.
My therapeutic presence is compassionate, collaborative, body-centered, (and spiritual if desired). As a therapist, my intention is to join alongside you on your healing journey. In the healing space, we will help you reconnect to your truth, rediscover fulfillment in your relationships, and feel more inner peace, acceptance, confidence, and joy.
THE HEALING PROCESS:
I find the work we do asks us to move out of the mind and into the body. The body offers the a vast canvas of wisdom, which understandably, many of us have lost access to over the course of our busy lifestyles, and as a result of trauma. I endeavor to lovingly and patiently help guide you back to your own internal body wisdom. This could look like tuning into the body, and using that wisdom, we decide to sit on the ground for the session, or stand and move as the body desires.
Healing asks for a sense of "safe enough." I aim to be diligent in creating and holding safe space, and yet we are each unique in our needs. There is always an open invitation to give feedback if you notice something needs to be adjusted to help you feel more at ease in the space, and I additionally create opportunities for you to share your experience.
Healing requires bringing into the light the parts of ourselves that we deem the most unlovable and unattractive. I hope to create a space in which it feels safe from judgment for you to bring your vulnerabilities into the light, in order to reconnect to the love and healing you deserve. No part of you is unlovable. You deserve the life you desire.
A big part of healing is hope. So we will dream a little and connect to your heart-centered future vision. Together, we'll collaborate on how to get there and be open to change as the vision unfolds. Along the path, we will bring loving awareness to thought and behavior patterns that may not be fully working and cultivate the hope and empowerment needed for making changes you want to make.
MODALITIES AND TECHNIQUES USED:
Mindfulness, meditation, somatic inquiry, Internal Family Systems (parts work), EMDR, Mindful Self-Compassion, psycho-education, polyvagal theory, creativity and expressive arts, among other techniques.
PERSONS SERVED:
I work with persons throughout the lifespan, from children and teens, to adults, and those whose relationships need some loving support. I lovingly open my practice to populations that are underserved and marginalized. My primary focus is developmental trauma.
ABOUT ME:
I have been practicing as a licensed therapist for 6 years and working in therapeutic settings with clients for over a decade. Trauma and suffering in my own life led me on my own healing journey and ultimately to becoming a therapist. I know how confusing and dark life can feel and how significant an anchor can be in times of suffering. I am passionate about helping others reconnect to a sense of internal wisdom, love, wholeness, and safety. You are worthy just as you are.
I wholly believe in balance and self-care, and when I'm not working, I will be found meditating, in nature, connecting to the earth, expressing myself creatively, playing with my pup, or moving my body in forms like dance, climbing, backpacking, or swimming.
If this feels like a good fit, I look forward to meeting you wherever you on your path.
